The Viking Adventure is a “Leadership Laboratory”. It’s a “hands on” real-life sailing adventure. You get to do all the things necessary to run the ship! It is a time to practice leadership skills on a fun adventure in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. You don’t have to be an old salt, a Viking or even know how to sail; you will be taught in a safe, positive and fun environment - sailing is for everyone!

It takes a team to sail a ship – so join us and be part of the team. Whether you are a watch leader, cooking a meal, raising sails, leading a fire drill, practicing man over board, steering the ship or navigating us to our next destination, you will have plenty of leadership practice and fun!

SAFETY: The Viking ship is equipped with state of the art safety equipment. The crew is highly trained and licensed. The Viking ship is US Coast Guard Inspected so you can relax knowing she meets or exceeds all safety standards.

San Juan Islands - Discover the beautiful San Juan Islands, this Archipelago is world renown as a premier destination. Carved by mile high glaciers 15,000 years ago, the San Juan archipelago offers several hundred islands with miles of twisting shoreline with many reefs, rocks and bays - perfect for exploration aboard a Viking Ship.

The area is filled with abundant wild life that includes tide pools full of amazing little creatures, orca whale pods with up to 50 family members, dolphins, river otters, thousands of harbor seals, sea lions and over 100 bald eagle nests.

The unique micro-climate of the San Juan Islands creates a "banana belt" and beautiful summer weather thanks to the "rain shadow" cast by the Olympic Mountains. Located in Puget Sound and sheltered from the Pacific Ocean by Vancouver Island to the west, the islands have spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains to the south, dramatic snow covered Mt. Baker and the Cascade Range to the east and the British Columbia Coast Range to the north.

There is no better way to intimately become part of nature and to experience the water, the mountain views, the sun, and the wildlife than by a Viking Ship.

We offer one and three week expeditions. Expeditions are specifically designed for different age groups and intentionally incorporate leadership, communication, seamanship, community building, ecology, navigation, sailing, character building and many other lessons.

Expeditions are offered July through September. September through June, the ship is available in Seattle for school groups and other outings.
